Iâ€™m a southern girl and I really enjoy some good oleâ€™ BBQ ribs so Iâ€™m on a quest to find the best ribs in NYC.Â Dinosaur BBQ is a local Harlem rib joint and I really do have a love/hate relationship with this eatery. I enjoy their ribs but the wait for a table on the weekends is just down right ridiculous but once youâ€™re seated itâ€™s all good!Â Yes, I could cook my own ribs at home and dine-in but itâ€™s all the other elements that I enjoy fromÂ Dinosaur’s. Â Inside, the dÃ©cor is just what I expect to see from a BBQ joint; wooden floors, license plates hanging on the wall and hand painted graffiti in the ladies room. The wait staff is very efficient and the smell of slow cooked BBQ hits your senses as you’re walking down the block.
If my friends and I decide to brave Dinosaur on the weekend, we usually spend the 1.5 to 2 hour wait at the newly open pier (by Fairway Market) to pass the time.Â Reservations are highly recommended, as there are literally people standing outside waiting for a table on an occasional weekend.
The menu selection is pretty good, but I go straight for the ribs!Â On occasion weâ€™ll order a Dino App (Fried Green Tomatoes, BBQ Wings or Deviled Eggs). The ribs are really good and Iâ€™ve tried the pull pork sandwich which was just as tasty. Â Â BBQ fried rice is excellent and I usually order it with fries (yes, I know those are two carbsâ€¦donâ€™t judge me) or the iceberg wedge.Â The Honey Hush cornbread is not that impressive, but the margaritas are!Â Iâ€™ve never tried the collard greens but they seem to be a favorite among my friends. Â With generous portion sizes, I always have food left to take home.Â Enjoy!
