Ok, I know I am a little late, but I am now on the Columbus Short bandwagon. I got a chance to check out Armored this weekend and he did his thing. I mean I knew he was capable of a great performance after his great leading role performance in Stomp the Yard, but watching Armored just reconfirmed the obvious.
In five years Columbus has accomplished a lot. He has transitioned from an accomplished choreographer, to Hollywood’s new “It” guy. Strolling through Harlem I had a chance to pick up a copy of Rolling Out magazine featuring Columbus Short. The interview revealed a mature and humble side of Columbus.
“What you always want to do—whether you’re working with greats, a peer that’s new in the game, or somebody that’s coming in under you—you just want to come in and work humbly…..My challenge is to go out and meet people where they are. We don’t have a lot of positive examples out there, so it’s important to get out there and let our voices be heard in a way that inspires kids.”
Columbus also discusses his masterplan to take over Hollywood and his love for sports in Rolling Out. If you haven’t picked up the current Rolling Out Magazine you can also check out the interview at RollingOut.com.
Columbus is closing out 2009 with a bang, but we can also expect to see him next year in Death at a Funeral ( Martin Lawrence, Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan) and The Losers (Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana and Chris Evans).
Actor, Choreographer and Musician…a triple threat! Columbus Short you are definitely Get ‘Em Girl approved and on our radar!
