BET’s 106 & Park host, Rocsi Diaz, has been the subject of many blog articles in the past, but she has most recently come under fire for her *questionable* fashion choices. I feel like her personal style is cool, when she hits up events on her own terms, I think she’s pretty fly. It’s just her 106 & Park outfits that perplex me. Now, unlike Mad’am Minaj, I’m not blaming Rocsi– I’m blaming the Wardrobe Stylist for 106 & Park. I have come to this very simple conclusion: they’re beefing! Yes, you heard it hear first. The 106 stylist doesn’t like Rocsi, so she takes it out on her wardrobe!
Me being a person of solutions, I have decided to make-over Rocsi! Since I’ve met her, and have come to really like her based on the way she acted towards me (she is surprisingly sweet, and very inviting), I’ve decided to give her this well earned birthday gift! A MAKEOVER!
The first look, is of course the B’day look. Today is her ??rd/th/st birthday, so I figured I would put her in this Balmain dress with the deep V-neck for a slight exposed cleavage and the sharp shoulder detail. Long sleeves, with it being Fall and everything, but mini for the sexiness. Rocsi has great legs, and really pretty skin. Definitely want to show off her gams, and flawless skin. These strappy Tory Burch sandals is a perfect pairing for this dress, don’t want to cover too much of her legs (no boots!), but you definitely don’t want to leave the foot too naked either. This Alexander McQueen clutch with skull, ring, etc. to put her fingers through gives it some edge.
For Look no. 2, I put her in a summer ready white Preen dress, with satin hem and strap detailing, a Lee Angel necklace, and gold Ruthie Davis ‘Odyssey’ pumps. This look was especially made for the BET Awards. I actually don’t remember ever watching the BET Awards and saying “Wow!” at anything Rocsi was wearing. Trust me, this “stylist/Rocsi” beef go waaay back! Ja & 50 ain’t got nothing on them! This beef goes back to BET’s “Fresh Faces” search (where Rocsi was founded). I put my lunch money on it.
Believe it or not, Rocsi is very involved with women empowerment organizations, mentoring programs, and speaks to young girls about various subjects. Every time I ran into her, it was at an event of such nature. So this look is for when she’s speaking at a teen summit, or on a panel at an empowerment tour. This Alexander Wang suede motorcycle, asymmetric-zip jacket, Current/Elliott jeans and Givenchy booties is perfect for that kind of event. She can either rock this jacket zipped up, or zipped down with a loose white tank underneath.
This is the solution to her biggest faux pas! What she wears on the 106 set. The beauty of dressing up Rocsi for 106 & Park is the freedom to toy with different looks, you can dress it up or dress it down. This is more of a dressy look. This Azzaro mini shorts jumpsuit, with the sleeves rouched up to just below the elbow, these Jimmy Choo sandals, and Kenneth Jay Lane Tiger ring, is the perfect dressy, but still laid back look.
What about that “Spring Bling”, bay-bay? The annual fun fest, disguised as a work week that Rocsi takes part in, calls for a super cute ready for the beach look. This green Victoria’s Secret two-piece with the bandeau top is perfect for Rocsi’s body! She can rock these distressed, cuffed Sass & Bide shorts over her swim suit, throw on these super cute and comfy Roberto Cavalli sandals, and block the sun (and the haters!) with these Linda Farrow Luxe sunglasses.
And there you have it! 5 looks for 5 occasions the “Rocstar” encounters on a regular. Now, we’ve warned you Rocsi’s 106 stylist: stop embarrassing the homie! And Happy B’day, Rocsi!
xoxo
