I ventured out in the cold, slushy streets of New York two weeks ago to attend “Urbanista” Michaela angela Davis’ monthly “Salon de Shine.” December’s Salon was held at the chic and unique beauty salon, Georgia.

<br />

Salon de Shine is Michaela’s monthly mentoring get-together for women. Jodie Patterson & Kiara Ellozy; sister-in-laws and co-owners of Georgia, spoke with us about their journey in the business world, motherhood and their new venture Georgia.

The Salon opened last summer and is named after Jodi’s daughter, Georgia.  Jodi and Kiara are hair product junkies so one can find favorites such as Mizani, Mixed Chicks and tons of other hard to find hair products for kinky, tight, straight, and curly hair. Georgia’s also sells candles, soaps, lingerie and silk pillowcases. The salon has four hair stylist who specialize in color, cutting, weaving, braiding and curly haircare.

Grammy Award Winner, Gordon Chambers stopped by the Salon and kept the us warm with a special holiday serenade. Gordon Chambers has written for artist such as Anita Baker (I Apologize), Angie Stone (No More Rain) and tons of other classics.  He sang two songs from his new album, Love Stories. and for his finale has us join in and sing “If You Love Me,” by Brownstone.

I left Salon de Shine once again feeling enlightened.  I love being around like-minded women and I also provided culture, inspiration, and red velvet cupcakes for my mentee Tara who attended.  Check out my web album to see more pics.

I look forward to more shine in ‘09!
