Eddie Murphy has always credited Richard Pryor as one of his biggest inspirations for wanting to become a comedian, so it came as no surprise to hear that he would star in the new Pryor biopic–and then the money talks happened. According to sources, Eddie wanted too much and director Bill Condon wasn’t having it. But as the saying goes, one man’s lose is another man’s gain–and Marlon Wayans has definitely gained.

While I love Marlon, and I totally think he’ll do a great job…I would have loved to see Eddie in the movie. Oh well…better luck next time.

Marlon is an interesting choice to play Richard Pryor. While Eddie is a very good fit, I can understand if a new and fresh face was needed. I’m not too familiar with the comic scene, but the person that plays this role would certainly have to have flair for the comic scene.
