My intention was to post about the 15th Anniversary of the Essence Music Festival over the course of the holiday weekend–but uh, the hand grenades set it–and as Jamie Foxx woud say “blame it on the…” In any event, here’s a recap of some of the weekend’s fabulous events–and I hope to see you there next year!
Our first stop after hitting the city, was the French Quarter for quick bite to eat at Acme Oyster House. We kept it light because the show was starting soon and we knew we still had to head over to pick up our media passes–so we opted for to share the New Orleans sampler, Crawfish Puppies, and the must-have Chargrilled oysters with romano cheese.
Next, we hit the Carol’s Daughter Pop Up Shop event–and met up with the founder Lisa Price as well as Def Jam artist Melanie Fiona and our personal favorite “Tweetheart“, recording artist Estelle–who is just as cool offline as she is online!
Beyoncé Shows Her Helping Hand
Oh how I heart Mrs. Beyoncé “Sasha Fierce” Knowles-Carter; not only is she a fabulous performer–but she has a heart and a hand big enough to extend it to those in need. Beyoncé has partnered with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, and Hamburger Helper for a new Show Your Helping Hand campaign.
With Beyoncé’s help, SYHH and Feeding America hope to deliver 3.5 million meals to local food banks. With a network of over 200 food banks across the country, Feeding America provides food assistance to over 25 million low-income people facing hunger. So, how can you help?
