Beside every great man there is a great woman and Black Girls Rock! Inc. honors the achievements of exceptional women of color in fashion, media, business, the arts, entertainment, and public service. In the process of celebrating these achievements, they take the time to highlight one exceptional man who is steadfast and consistent in their output, soulful and independent in their mind-set, and respected by their peers as lovers of their culture and their craft who also stand as positive role models. Common received the award in a previous year and the 2009 honoree is Anthony Hamilton.

The 3rd Annual Black Girls Rock awards went down last night and the from what I can see it was a beautiful event. Iman, Veronica Webb, and Pam Grier were just a few in attendance at the Stanley H. Kaplin penthouse at the Lincoln Center in New York.
