Get ‘Em Girl of the Week: Chef Cheryl D. Lee

Therese Jan. 12.2010 10:42am
I don’t usually write in get em girls of the week feature, but a new sister chef of mine was on my spirit and I felt the need to share her story with you.

Cheryl D. Lee is one of a very small sorority of black female chefs that have had the opportunity to work in almost every facet of the culinary industry. She was classically trained at the California Culinary Institute in San Francisco, CA. Her career is an exercise in diversity and in strategic choice because of the wide range of positions she’s held. Her most notable position was as a chef for the “Ermeril Live” show during the years it won Cable Ace Awards, in addition her experience includes work as executive chef and catering manager for various nyc cafes, food stylist for several national magazines, chef instructor at the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, CA, as well as position as test kitchen director for Women’s World Magazine.

She is the epitome of the influential and modern-savvy woman.

Get ‘Em Girl of the Week: Midwin Charles

Shakara Dec. 9.2009 9:48am
Last night my fellow WEEN Committee member, Midwin Charles was featured on CNN’s Showbiz Tonight! weighing in on the Tiger Woods scandal.

Midwin is a woman of many talents with a knack for making them shine. As a lawyer, Midwin provides incisive, critical analysis on issues of the day through a variety of media outlets. She provides commentary for the Nancy Grace Show on CNN Headline News and when Nancy asks the tough questions, Midwin fires back with hard-hitting answers. As a regular guest commentator for Court TV, MSNBC, and the FOX Business Network, Midwin’s colorful and sharp-witted observations engage the audience and keep them wanting more. She also reached the public over the airwaves when she’s on Court TV Radio. Her incisive legal assessments are in part the product of a diverse background. As a native New Yorker with a Haitian heritage Midwin’s fresh perspective on law, race, and politics give her an unexpected edge.
