In true Michelle Obama style the White House is celebrating a “greener” Christmas this year with energy-saving LED lights, recycled ornaments from previous administrations and natural materials, like dried hydrangeas that were previously used in floral arrangements.

First Lady Obama also announced their family Christmas theme, “Reflect, Rejoice, Renew”. She said, “For the Obama family, Christmas and the new year has always been a time to reflect on our many blessings, to rejoice in the pleasure of spending time with our family and our friends, and to renew our commitment to one another and to the causes that we believe in.”

Eight hundred ornaments used from previous administrations were dug out of storage and sent to sixty community groups nationwide to be decorated in tribute to their favorite landmarks. If all of this eco-friendly goodness isn’t enough, six of the trees on display at the entrance will be replanted after the holidays by the National Parks Service.

I’m so in love with it! It can be used to hold beautiful sculptures or you can add a glass top to create a beautiful table. While Alder Kiss is my favorite, I also love the Cubes and Rounds. Check out all that Brent Comber has to offer and I’m sure you’ll fall in love with nature’s kiss as well.

Anyway, the modern-urban twist on the classic sandal is just what we need to keep the landfills from overflowing with unused tires. Just think of all the possibilities…

I love handmade soaps and The Joy of Soap’s Peppermint Passion is my new love. I was sent the soap to review and once I used it I knew it wouldn’t be my last time. Made with all natural ingredients, which include olive, palm and coconut oils; peppermint and spearmint essential oils; and French clay, this soap not only leaves you feeling refreshed and invigorated, but it’s vegan and cruelty free!

Hi Beauties!  I received a few emails from readers who read my review on Dove’s Daily Hydrating Cleansing Cloths.  They stated that they like Dove products but found an eco-friendly facial wipe that does the job and saves the earth at the same time.  Last week I went to my local drugstore and found the Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Makeup Remover Towelettes and an entire line of Organic Wear products.

I tried the wipes the same day and was very impressed with the results.  The wipes removed all traces of my makeup while leaving my skin soft and very clean without any dryness.  My eye area is very sensitive and I had absolutely no reaction to these wipes.

Now here is the cool part – the towelettes are biodegradable, cruelty free and have no harsh chemicals, parabens, or synthetic preservatives or fragrances.  They smell great and the essential oils in the Eco-Aroma Therapy (lavender) helps ease stress as the wipes ease away your makeup.  The sleek aluminum container is also recyclable.

I don’t use the wipes daily, but they have become a new part of my beauty arsenal.  Thanks to my wonderful eco-friendly beauties for suggesting this product, I appreciate it! 

1. Cut one (or two) lemon(s) in half, remove the seeds, and skewer the cut side onto the top rack of the dishwasher.
2. Load the dishwasher. Remove any loose food from dishes and cutlery.
3. Run the wash cycle on normal–that’s it. Simple right. lol

Repeat this process on a monthly basis to keep your dishwasher sparkling clean and fresh.
